Vaughan convicted on misdemeanors

Former Prince Edward County Schools employee Eric T. Vaughan, who originally faced two felony charges, was found guilty of lesser charges according to a disposition notice on file with the circuit court.

Vaughan had faced charges for embezzlement of $200 or more and forgery, according to court records. He was convicted of embezzlement of less than $200, a misdemeanor, and false pretenses, also a misdemeanor, Aug. 12 and given 20 days on each charge, according to court records.

The Farmville man formerly served as supervisor of maintenance for the school division before being terminated in October, according to Division Superintendent Dr. David Smith. Vaughan had worked for the school division since 1998.
