Longwood University women’s soccer seniors Olivia Colella, Alana Mackey and Meghan Magee were appointed team captains for the 2015 season by the Lancer coaching staff, head coach Todd Dyer announced Friday. Those three return for their final season as three-year starters of a Longwood program that has earned top-three finishes in the Big South in two of their three seasons. Collectively, the trio has made 165 starts and appeared in 178 games, helping the Lancers to a 30-23-7 overall record and a 19-10-3 mark in Big South play during their careers.

Colella has split time between the midfield and front line since her freshman year and enters her senior season with nine career goals and seven career assists.

A 5-3 native of Herndon, she reached career highs in both those categories as a junior, scoring four times and dishing out four assists while playing a career-high 1,319 minutes on the pitch.

Mackey has started every game of her college career, anchoring a defensive backfield that has surrendered the fourth-fewest goals and second-fewest shots in the Big South over the past three years. She was a preseason All-Big South pick as a junior and followed through by starting every game and playing 1,615 minutes, the second most on the team.

Meghan Magee

Magee has started all but one game in her career and has played more than 5,000 minutes during her career, the most of any returning player on Longwood’s 2015 squad. A preseason All-Big South first team pick as a junior, she has started all but one game during her career.

The 5-6 native of Virginia Beach, is coming off a junior campaign in which she was named Big South Defender of the Week following her performance in a 4-0 shutout over VMI.
