A new $12 million 50,000-square-foot medical center was dedicated on Sunday afternoon in Farmville.

The Centra Southside Medical Center occupies the space of the former Roses building on South Main Street at the intersection of Griffin Blvd.

The primary-care facility will be home to multiple physicians and specialties. It is anticipated that the building will serve thousands of patients in the first year, according to Centra.

The center will offer a full range of health care services including primary care, orthopedics, nephrology, psychiatry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, laboratory, speech therapy and digital x-ray.

The Centra Medical Group’s Farmville Clinic will move to the new location.

A large crowd attended the event — one marked with tours of the center, music and refreshments.
