FARMVILLE — The South Central Association of Realtors (SCAR) has contributed $250 to support the corporate Virginia Association of Realtors (VAR) partnership of Homes for Our Troops (HFOT), a non-profit that operates nationally to build mortgage-free homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans, enabling them to rebuild their lives.

“We chose it because veterans, as a whole, are a large portion of our buyer class. They’re a huge portion of who we service in this community,” said Navona Hart, president of SCAR and a member of the Virginia Leadership Academy, which selected the project.

“It’s just a fantastic opportunity to provide housing for people who’ve given … everything for us,” she said.
