The Fuqua School Falcons varsity football team opened its 2015 football season with a convincing 35-7 win over Greenbrier Christian Academy. Behind the sensational play of senior Tyler Frink, who accounted for over 200 yards rushing on the ground and recorded double-digit tackles on defense, the Falcons were led to a win.

On the first series of the game, Frink would pick up a nice 28-yard run that had the Falcons in business, but the Greenbrier defense would step up and force a punt. On the first Greenbrier offensive series, Frink, Billy French and their defensive mates would force a punt as well and Fuqua took over on their own 32-yard line.

The second offensive series would lead to the first Fuqua score as Frink picked up 22 yards behind a block on the outside from Hunter Gilliam. The series would come down to a fourth-and-eight in Greenbrier territory, when quarterback Devin Allen found Ed Newman on a 23-yard touchdown pass that would give Fuqua a 7-0 lead.

Greenbrier would be stopped once again on the next series as Julian Gee had a big hit and helped give the ball back to the Fuqua offense. The Falcons would again move the ball but a turnover stopped the drive at the 43-yard line of Greenbrier. The Falcons defense would step up again and force a turnover on downs at their own 36-yard line.

The Fuqua offense got on board again as Frink moved the ball into the red zone, and Allen went back to work in the air as he found Newman for a 16-yard touchdown pass that gave the Falcons a 14-0 lead with 8:24 left in the half.

The two teams would trade possessions again before Gilliam picked off a Corey Vickers pass and raced 43 yards down to the one-yard line. Fuqua scored on a Frink one-yard blast taking a commanding 21-0 lead. The score would remain the same as the two teams headed to the locker room for halftime.

In the second half, Greenbrier got the ball first, but the Falcons defense continued to play tough and forced a punt after a three-and-out. Allen would find French on a 21-yard completion to get the drive rolling. Frink would then get a 17-yard gain on a screen pass from Allen. After several strong runs, Allen would score on a keeper from three yards out to put the Falcons up 27-0.

Greenbrier would finally get on the board at the start of the fourth quarter as Khalil McGlone picked off an Allen pass and returned it in for a touchdown.

This would be the only score of the night for Greenbrier as Fuqua would get another score in the fourth with 7:35 left on the clock, when Frink made a run then circled back opposite field and ripped of a 47-yard touchdown. Fuqua got the two-point conversion. The Falcons held Greenbrier and ran out the remainder of the clock to get the season-opening victory.
