Evening hike planned on High Bridge Trail

On August 20 at 7 p.m. meet a High Bridge Park interpreter at the Trail Plaza in Farmville (adjacent to Charley’s parking lot) for a tour of historic Farmville along High Bridge Trail.
This evening the tour will go east along the Trail from the plaza to the site of General Smyth’s wounding. Some attractions include the Farmville Dispensary, South Side Railtoad Depot, Craddock-Terry Shoe Factory, Appomattox River and bateaux traffic concluding where General Smyth was mortally wounded, becoming the last Union General officer to die in the American Civil War.
Total distance of the hike is about two miles. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes.
