CUMBERLAND, July 21 — Nancy Rebecca Allen, 65, died of ovarian cancer at her home, Rock Garland, in Cumberland C.H. on Friday, July 17, 2015.

She graduated from Longwood College with a degree in Art. She designed and manufactured resort wear with her sister, Barbara, and was commissioned by Maymont to produce items for their gift shop. She loved gardening, crafting and baking (move over Julia Child).   

Ms. Allen was on the Board of Trustees of the Cumberland County Public Library and volunteered on the Patriot Day Committee for many years.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Allen Walter of Farmville, and her caring and loving sisters, Barbara Allen of Balsam, NC, Jennifer A. Tichacek of King William, and Sandra A. Shiflet of Huntsville, OH; a niece, Tyler Tichacek, and three nephews, Trevor Tichacek, Chris Shiflet and Phil Shiflet.  Her father, S. Philip Allen, died in 1999.

Ms. Allen cherished her good friends Freddie, Bucky, Connie, Carol and Nancy Lowden and the family thanks them for their love and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Cumberland County Public Library.
