America’s Hometown Track will drop the green flag on seven action-packed events on Saturday, Aug. 1 when the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval hosts the “Italian Delight Family Restaurant presents Frutopia Not Just Frozen Yogurt” NASCAR Late Model Twin 75s racing program.
The first of the seven races on Saturday will get cranked up at 7 p.m. The featured attractions of the night will be a pair of 75-lap races for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division. The Saturday event will also feature twin 25-lap races for the drivers in the Limited Sportsman Division, twin 15-lap races for the competitors in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and a 15-lap battle for the Budweiser Hornets Division.
Matt Bowling, a two-time winner in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Division this year, has raced out to a 37-point cushion over five-time winner Lee Pulliam, a two-time NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion, in the chase for the 2015 South Boston Speedway championship.
Austin Thaxton is third in the Late Model Stock Car Division standings and is followed in the top five by Bobby McCarty in fourth and Juan Garcia in fifth place.
Danny Willis Jr., who is seeking his third consecutive Limited Sportsman Division crown, is currently 24 points ahead of second place Trey Crews in the championship chase.
Joey Throckmorton is third in the standings and only trails Crews by 11 points. Billy Myers is in fourth place, and Calvin Meadows rounds out the top five drivers in the standings.
