Children Garden In Summer Reading Program

Published 2:28 pm Thursday, July 2, 2015

Children enrolled in the Cumberland County Public Library summer reading program have visited the community garden at the Cumberland High School every Tuesday morning. The students have planted tomatoes and okra, weeded all the beds, composted in the vermiculture bed and harvested zucchini, green beans, kale, chard and basil.  They recently also learned about a killdeer that has nested in the garden’s walkway.  Pictured, from left are, top row, Emily Eroh, Patrick Manry, Hannah Manry, Penny Dorsey, Michelle West, bottom row, Lucy Manry, Robby King and Addy Carney.
