Fourteen Weyanoke Garden Club members enjoyed their May luncheon at the home of B. Williams with June Lindsay serving as co-hostess.
Ann Morton Neale was recognized as this year’s Merit Prize winner for the most accumulated points for exhibits and horticultures.
Blue ribbons for horticultures were presented to June Lindsay, Ann Morton Neal, and Phyllis Walker. A blue ribbon was also presented for an exhibit displayed by Nancy Andrews.
Members enjoyed strolling through the lawn and garden with borders of blooming trees and shrubs filled in with perennials, annuals, and a lush border of culinary herbs.
The focal point of the lawn included a formal circle of boxwoods and blooming annuals centered with a large urn.
Weyanoke traditionally does not meet during the summer, however, in June members will visit the Evergreen Lavender Farm in Appomattox for a special program on the planting and care of lavender which will be followed by lunch.
