Piedmont Senior Resources Celebrates Birthdays

FARMVILLE – Piedmont Senior Resources’ Friendship Café at Crossroad Senior Center in Prospect hosted a birthday celebration for eight 90-year-old-plus senior citizens. Those honored include: Louise Burnside (90), Flossie Hudson (91), Mary Stokes (91), Samuel Cooper (92), Clara McGriff (93), Leeman Allen (93), Nellie Coles (absent) (94), and Nannie Johnson (95). Also celebrating a June birthday was Alberta Ford.
Seniors gather at the Prospect Friendship Café every Wednesday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., for food, fun and fellowship. Flossie Hudson credits Piedmont Senior Resources (PSR) with keeping seniors in their own homes by providing the nutrition program that encourages folks her age to keep their minds and bodies active.
Friendship Cafes are open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. weekly to all seniors (60+ years of age) who reside in the seven-county area of Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway, and Prince Edward at the following locations: Monday – SCOPE, 5050 Griffin Blvd, Farmville; Tuesday – Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 10691 N. James Madison Hwy, Dillwyn; Lunenburg Sr. Ctr, 1121 Tidewater Ave., Victoria; Wednesday – Crossroads Sr. Ctr, 2966 Sulphur Spring Rd, Prospect; Crewe Community Ctr, 200 W. Tennessee Ave., Crewe; Thursday – Russell Grove School, 8701 Otterburn Rd, Amelia; Bluestone Harmony Ctr, 635 Bluestone Rd, Keysville; Friday – Payne Memorial Methodist Church, 1 Stoney Point Rd, Cumberland.
Piedmont Senior Resources (PSR) Area Agency on Aging is a private, nonprofit organization that provides supportive services and advocates for senior citizens 60 years of age and older. PSR serves Virginia’s Planning District 14, the counties of Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway, and Prince Edward.
