LU Student’s Cause Of Death Determined

NORFOLK — A Longwood University student who was found dead in Southampton County in April died of acute heroin poisoning, according to a Norfolk Police Department news release dated June 26.

“The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner notified the Norfolk Police Department that the cause of death in the Anjelica ‘AJ’ Hadsell case is ‘acute heroin poisoning,’ and the manner of death is ‘undetermined,’” stated the release, dated June 26.

The Norfolk Police Department’s investigation of this case is ongoing, stated the release. “There is no other information available at this time.”

Hadsell was reported missing while in her hometown of Norfolk on spring break in March.

The student was found in Southampton County on April 9, said the department spokesman Sam Shenouda.
