Grants Awarded To Cumberland High School Teachers

The Cumberland County Public Schools Foundation received four grant applications from Cumberland Elementary, Middle and High School teachers totaling $5,565.73. Proceeds raised from the 2013 Walk for Education fundraising totaling $5,434.25 were avialbe for distrubtion. On May 26, the Foundation awarded two grants totaling $2,804.85 to Cumberland High School as follows.

Chemical Reagents – Joan Tique (CHS Science) – ($1,104.85) Students conduct more lab activities to understand the concepts in chemistry. With new reagents, students would experience first hand some chemical reactions.

STEM in the Classroom – Myrna Barr (CHS Foreign Languages) – ($1,700). To introduce students to science, technology, engineering and math activities which can be used in curricula and unleash students imagination while using STEM products. To create STEM subject excitement and to create a mobile makerspace that will increase kinesthetic learning. To build overall STEM interest, integration and enrollment among the students and teachers.
