JUNE 16 — Everett Joseph (“Joe”) Anderson, 74, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 10, 2015.
He attended Southside Community College, graduated in 1982 with an Associate’s degree in Business Management. He then attended Longwood College graduating at the age of 44, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After college he worked in the business office at Fork Union Military Academy, then as a Veteran’s Representative at Virginia Employment Commission.
Mr. Anderson spent 20 years in the U.S. Army, a majority of that time in the medical field. He especially liked “patient care”. After retirement from the army in July 1979, due to injuries received in Vietnam, he was unable to pursue “patient care”.
He is survived by his wife, Matilda; sister, Shirley (James); five sisters-in-law, Minnie, Thelma, Dot, Esther and Sylvia (A.J.); and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Hester Anderson, four brothers, Allen, Curtis, Tommy, and Raleigh, three nephews, Robin, Eddie, and Rob, and a niece, Maryann.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 14 in the Chapel of Shorter Funeral Home. Burial was at Trinity Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
