Southside Storm Wins USSSA Tourney

RICHMOND — Southside Storm, a travel baseball team from the Farmville area, participated in the USSSA (13U bracket) Mother’s Day Shootout Tournament in Richmond on Sunday, May 10. The team had to win their first two games to qualify for the championship game.
Southside Storm took a 7-2 win and then a 15-0 over their first two opponents, before heading into the final game. They went on to defeat a team from Colonial Heights in the championship game, 13-3.
The Southside Storm team also competed in another tournament in Mechanicsville on Sunday, May 17.
Again, the team needed to win two games before advancing to the championship game. They won their first two games with a 6-1 score and then an 11-3 score. However, they fell short in their final game and lost to a Short Pump team 11-2.
