RICE, April 23 — James R. Farrell Jr., 86, of Rice, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015. He was born on April 27, 1928 in Bar Harbor, Maine to the late James and Betty Brooks Farrell Sr. He owned a local greenhouse, Farrell’s Greenhouse in Rice.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Farrell; daughters, Nancy Farrell and Carolyn Smith; stepchildren, Joann Williams, James B. Dungans, and Michael Dungans; six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donnie Farrell (Linda); a sister, Alice Cousins (Rae); and an aunt, Rachel Nichols. He was preceded in death by Corrine E. Farrell, Embert Farrell, Eleanor Littlefield, Juanita Keene, John Farrell, David Farrell and a grandson, Bruce Leighton.

A graveside funeral will be held on Friday, April 24 at 11 a.m. in Amelia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.

Family will receive friends on Thursday (tonight), April 23 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Shorter Funeral Home.
