Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, Kathleen McCoy, of Appomattox, and Jane Cooke, of Brookneal, all enjoyed great food, fun and fellowship at Richmond, restaurant on Saturday, March 21.

Mr. and Mrs. Chris Whitley and family, of Powhatan, and Elizabeth Stone of Dillwyn, visited in the home of James and Virginia Boyles in Cumberland Sunday, March 22.

Happy anniversary wishes are sent to Charles and Margaret Yates, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Wednesday, April 1 and David and Pat Hawks, of Cumberland, celebrating on Thursday, April 2.

On Friday, March 20, Barry and Linda Miles enjoyed an afternoon meal at a Dillwyn restaurant with Patricia Woodfin, of New Canton, and Susie Taylor, of Dillwyn.

Remember: Sunday, April 5 is Easter. Let us remember the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Yes, He has risen, He’s not dead. He’s alive for evermore.

Maranatha Baptist Church, located on Tuggle Road in Farmville, will be hosting spring revival Sunday, March 29 through April 1.

Sunday, March 29, services will begin at 10:30 a.m. with gospel music featuring The Oak Hill Quartet from the Oak Hill Church of Cumberland. Members of the quartet include: Forest Yoder (Lead), Rusty Yoder (baritone), Adriel Miller (tenor), Chris Eicher (bass) and Mike Yoder on the piano. The morning worship will follow at 11 a.m. with more special music and a guest speaker. Lunch will then be served in the church fellowship hall.

The Sunday evening service will be at 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday services will begin at 7 p.m.

Special music nightly will include Sunday evening, March 29 the Rhonda Arnold Trio; Monday evening, March 30, Cody Moss pianist from First Baptist Church in Dillwyn; Tuesday, March 31 Denise Hill, of Dillwyn; and Wednesday evening, April 1, Barry Miles. The guest speaker for the week will be Bob Lee, former pastor of Appomattox Baptist Temple. Pastor Steve Conwell and the congregation cordially invite all to attend. Don’t miss the 28th Annual Virginia Catfish Festival on Saturday, March 28 from 4-7 p.m. at STEPS Inc., located on Industrial Road (460 Business) in Farmville. The Event is sponsored by Southside Shrine Club.

There will be an auction from 5:30-6 p.m. Items include a canoe package, fiberglass tree stand with tripod, John Deer Lawn Mower and other items.

There will be music by Country Proud and also the Dixie Ridge Bluegrass Band, sponsored by Fourth Street Motor Company. There will be lots of good such as fresh catfish fillet, hot dogs, coleslaw, baked beans, hush puppies, grits, and ice cream.

Admission $20 per person in advance: children under 10 accompanied by a parent will be admitted free. The gate admission is $25 per person.

All proceeds benefit Shriners Hospital for children.
