Happy Birthday wishes go out to Anita Ford, of Appomattox, celebrating on Saturday, January 17, Junior Trent and Cecil Ashburn, both of Cumberland, celebrating on Sunday, January 18, and Dottie Roosevelt, of Cumberland, and Roy Knighton, of New Canton, celebrating on Tuesday, January 20.

Our sympathy is extended to the Conner family of Cartersville. Agnes Humphrey Conner, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 6. A home going celebration was held on January 9. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her stand and faithfulness to her Lord.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut-in.

Our sympathy is extended to the Marion family of Cumberland. Curtis John Marion, 78, passed away on Thursday, January 8. A funeral service was held January 11. He will be greatly missed by all.

Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, Todd and Amy Hintz and family, Chris and Michelle Whitley and family all of Powhatan, Mike Boyles, Reva Allen, Barry and Linda Miles, James and Virginia Boyles, all of Cumberland, and Jane Cooke, of Brookneal, all enjoyed an evening meal at a Dillwyn restaurant on Saturday, January 10.

Our sympathy is extended to the Dowdy family of Cumberland. John Dowdy Sr., 79, passed away on January 5. A graveside service was held on January 7. He will be greatly missed by all.

Fitzgerald Baptist Church, partnering with Central Virginia Food Bank Feed More Program, will be distributing food to Cumberland County residents-including Cartersville residents–on Monday, January 26 from 1-2 p.m. at Southport Power Equipment, located on Anderson Highway in Cumberland. Individuals must have registered in December or must see Director Jerry Seal the day of distrubtion to qualify.

Maranatha Baptist Church, located on Tuggle Road in Farmville, will host special services on Sunday, January 25. Nathan Fray will be presenting his mission ministry work to Brazil during the 10 a.m. Sunday School hour and the 11 a.m. worship hour.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a non-profit organization, is proudly entering their 27th year as a group. On Saturday, January 17 at 1 p.m., the group will meet at Teresa’s Place in Sprouses Corner and host there kick-off meeting and luncheon for members and perspective members. Everyone is welcome to attend and plan to pay for there own meal.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association will hold their annual board of directors meeting in planning their 2015 budget and monthly meeting on Thursday, January 15 at noon at Teresa’s Place in Spouse’s Corner.

Loaves of Love food pantry is operated by the Seven Day Adventist Church in Cartersville. This food pantry is designed for Cumberland County residents, which includes Cartersville. The next food distrubtion will be held Sunday, January 18 from 2-3 p.m. for those 60 and older and disabled veterans; then from 3-5 p.m., distribute food to qualifying individuals 59 years and younger. Individuals qualify under age 59 based on employment and income. Bring in two forms of ID. A photo ID and proof that you reside in Cumberland such as an electric bill, tax bill or voter ID.
