CHS Triumphs Over Opponents In Tuesday Match

CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland High School varsity wrestling team claimed two wins in its home match on Tuesday, January 13. The Dukes defeated the Amelia County High School Raiders by a 48-18 score and also took a 48-30 win over Region 1A East competitor Northumberland High School. During the match, CHS' Davidrick Brooks, John Ryan Bapties, Keavon Perkins, Trevon Foster, and Blake Barker (seventh grader — Exhibition Match) all scored pins, according to CHS varsity wrestling coach Lew Longenecker.

The CHS varsity wrestling team will return to action on Wednesday, January 21, when they visit Fork Union Military Academy at 4:30 p.m. They will then travel to Nottoway High School on Friday, January 23 for the James River District meet at 5 p.m. CHS will return home on Friday, February 6, when they host Bluestone High School and King and Queen Central High School at 4 p.m.
