PRINCE EDWARD — With the addition of Jeannette A. Tarlton, there will be three candidates on the November ballot to fill the unexpired term of the late Mr. Howard M. “Pete” Campbell on the County’s Board of Supervisors for the Prospect District.

County Voter Registrar Dale Bolt confirmed Monday that three candidates have qualified. The deadline to do so was Friday, August 15.

In addition to Tarlton, who is running as an independent, candidates vying for the seat include Democrat Rev. Calvin L. Gray and independent Cornell E. Walker. (Parties can select their own candidates to run for office; independent candidates must collect at least 125 petition signatures to qualify.)

Mr. Campbell, elected to a second term in November, passed away in July and fellow supervisors appointed Gray to serve in the interim. The winner of the November 4 contest will serve the remainder of Mr. Campbell’s term, until December 31, 2017.
