DILLWYN, April 24 — Bobby Harold Bryan, 77, of Dillwyn, passed away at Virginia Baptist Hospice Center on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. He was born September 10, 1936 in Sevier County, Tennessee.
In 1953 he moved with his parents to Buckingham County and in 1958 bought his farm, PHILLYNN Farm, where he and his wife raised their family. Mr. Bryan spent his life serving his church, his family and his fellow man on the local, state and national level.
Mr. Bryan is survived by his wife, Elsie Robertson Bryan; two sons, Philip Harold Bryan and wife, Christine Senger-Bryan, and David Lynn Bryan and wife, Faye Harris Bryan; grandson, Caleb Daniel Bryan and wife, Jody Ragland Bryan and their daughter, Sydney Claire Bryan; granddaughter, Crystal Paige Bryan; grandson, Justin David Bryan and wife, Jamie Hackett Bryan and their daughter, Reese Makenzie Bryan, Zoee Alayna Stinson and Gabe Phillip Stinson, all of Buckingham County; two brothers, Harry D. Bryan and wife, Laura Whitehead Bryan of Knoxville, TN and William Kyle Bryan, and wife, Allison Bryant Bryan of Buckingham; six nephews; five nieces; and a very special sister-in-law, Brenda Robertson Loveday and her husband, Bruce. He was preceded in death by his parents, The Reverend Dott Bryan and wife, Lois, a sister, Virginia Helen Bryan, who died in infancy and a sister, Betty Bryan Whitehead Kinser of New Market, TN.
Funeral services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, Vera, at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24 with visitation to follow in the church fellowship hall.
A graveside service will be held Friday at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Route 612, Buckingham County at 11 a.m.
Mr. Bryan requested that any memorial contributions be made to the Toga Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Peter Pettoni, 6902 South James River Highway, Buckingham, VA 23921.
