Hazel Eanes Hall Callahan, 96

SALEM, March 11 — Hazel Eanes Hall Callahan, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Snyder Nursing Home in Salem, where she had resided for several years. She was born September 2, 1917, in Montgomery County and moved with her family to Buckingham County during the Great Depression.

Ms. Callahan is survived by a daughter, Nancy Jones and son-in-law, Richard of Buckingham County; son-in-law, James A. Woods of Salem; grandchildren, Nona Walker (Larry) of Roanoke, Cynthia Woods of Salem, Amy Jarich (Peter) of Emeryville, CA, and Kristin Jones (Will Dinwiddie) of Buckingham; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Crockett (Robert), Ryan Walker (Charlotte), Emily Walker, Jesse Walker, and Maggie Bargelski; and great-great grandchildren, Nolan and Lydia Crockett, and Jaycey and Reagan Walker. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward Lafayette Eanes and Pearl Maxey Eanes, sisters, Lena Dangerfield and Ruby Willis, brothers, Lynn, Oliver, and Fred Eanes, and daughter, Dixie Lee Woods of Salem.

Graveside services for family will be held at the Glenmore Methodist Church Cemetery in Buckingham County on Friday, March 14 at 2 p.m.

The family expresses its sincere thanks to the management and staff at Snyder Nursing Home for the loving care and friendship that they tirelessly provided during Hazel’s residence there.
