December 5 — Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Doris Allen, of Dillwyn, 85 years young, celebrating on Friday, December 6, and Lynn Cloud, of Cumberland, celebrating on Tuesday, December 10.

Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, along with Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, enjoyed Thanksgiving lunch at Golden Corral in Richmond on Thursday, November 28. All had a nice time.

Welcome home to Ruby Cogdill of Cumberland. She spent a few days last week in the hospital. She is said to be making slow improvement.

The 2012 Farmville Herald Correspondent’s Banquet was held on Wednesday, December 4 in Farmville. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire management and staff for a great time of food, fun and fellowship.

Barbara Cook, of Powhatan, and Barbara Barone, of Cumberland, visited in the home of Ruby Cogdill in Cumberland over the weekend.

Buckingham Baptist Church in Gold Hill hosts a fellowship meal and Bible Study every Wednesday evening.

Supper is served from 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. A complete meal is $3 per person with needs for those ages three years and under free. There is maximum cost of $12 per family.

Following this there will be Bible Study. Pastor Doug Adams and the congregation cordially invite all to attend.

Buckingham Baptist Church of Gold Hill hosts marriage counseling classes on Sunday at 5 p.m.: “The Marriage You’ve Always Wanted.” Pastor Doug Adams is the instructor.

Cedar Baptist Church, located just off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 650 (Trents Mill Rd.) hosts a Men’s Promise Keepers Prayer Breakfast Sunday mornings (excluding fifth Sundays) from 8:30-9:30 a.m.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association will hold their Annual Christmas Banquet on Saturday, December 7, at 1 p.m. at the VFW Hall (located on U.S. Route 60 in Buckingham). All members are cordially invited to attend. This event will be catered for all members attending. Meals will be paid for from the general fund. All guests attending will need to pay $12 per person. Missionary Jennifer Andrews will be going to Liechtenstein (located between Austria and Switzerland) to work with the youth. She will be sharing her mission work at Maranatha Baptist Church on Sunday, December 8 at 6 p.m. The church is located on Tuggle Road in Farmville. All are cordially invited to attend.

Welcome Wesleyan Church, located on U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn one mile north of Central Virginia Community Health Center, will present their annual Christmas Program on Saturday, December 14 at 7 p.m. This years theme will be “Christmas Comes to a Loan Star Gulch” – A Christmas Musical for the entire family. Following this there will be refreshments in the church fellowship hall.

Union Branch Baptist Church, located on Bridgeport Road in Arvonia, announces that they have a food pantry that will be distributing food every second and fourth Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon (or until all the food is gone). It is on a first-come first-served basis. Individuals must be a Buckingham County resident in order to receive food.
