POWHATAN, December 5 — Melvin Allen Trent, affectionately known as ”Huck” or “Shine”, 64, of Powhatan, formerly of Cumberland, departed this life at home on Monday, December 2, 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Lovella Booker Trent; three children, Loron Booker, Charlene Trent, and Darlene Lewis (Charles); a grandchild, Charles IV; three brothers, Charles Trent (Cleaster), Robert Trent (Mary), and Ernest Trent; three sisters, Barbara Jones (Harold), Carrie Tyler (Keith), and Darnietha Banks (John); uncle, Floyd Trent Sr., along with other relatives and friends.

His remains rest at Marian Gray Thomas Funeral Home of Cumberland, where public viewing will be held on Saturday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Center Union Baptist Church, Powhatan, with interment in church cemetery with the Rev. Clarence Trent Jr., pastor, officiating.
