DECEMBER 31 — David Clinton Stables Jr., 85, of Farmville, died Friday December 27, 2013.

He was a 1949 graduate of Virginia Tech and was employed for 38 years at Virginia Power retiring as district manager. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, and photography. He was active in many civic organizations and the Farmville United Methodist Church.

Mr. Stables is survived by his wife, Roberta Jean “Bobbie” Stables; a daughter, Robin S. McLane (Emmett); son, David Clinton Stables III (Merle); sister, Ruth Pennington; four grandchildren, Katie Robertson(Charles), Clint McLane, Sarah McIntosh(Tom) and David C. Stables IV( Meghan) and great-grandson, Braden David McIntosh. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Wise and Margaret Hawkes.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 30 at Farmville United Methodist Church with burial in Westview Cemetery.
