NORTH CAROLINA, July 23 — Garrett Nelson Brooks died Sunday, July 21, 2013. He was born in Richmond and moved to Roanoke Rapids with his family in 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Crawley Brooks and a daughter, Caitlyn Joy Brooks both of Rice; his father, Bryant R. Brooks, stepmother, Valerie S. Brooks, and sister, Ashley L. Brooks all of Roanoke Rapids, NC; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Nelson of Meherrin; and paternal grandmother, Jean H. Brooks of Greenville, SC. Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Nelson Brooks.

A memorial service will be held at Pisgah Baptist Church in Rice at 1 p.m. Friday, July 26.

The family requests donations be made to the Pisgah Baptist Church Youth Fund in his memory.
