JUNE 18 – Joseph Milton Bailey, 85, of Farmville, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013. He was born in Fort Mitchell to the late Nannie Glidewell Bailey and Jasper Hinton Bailey.

He retired from the US Air Force with over 23 years of service before retiring from the Virginia Department of Corrections. While stationed in Scotland, he met the love of his life and after spending over 51 years together, Margaret Steele Bailey predeceased him in 2009.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his sons, Joseph C. Bailey (Jazmin) of Farmville and Dale M. Bailey (Cyndy) of South Carolina; daughters, Karen B. Dennis (Michael) and Eileen B. Broughman (Steve) all of Virginia and Beverly A. Bailey of New Hampshire; brothers, A. Ernest Bailey (Mary Frances) and Curtis L. Bailey (Shirley); sister, Frances B. Thompson; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by seven of his siblings.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 20 at Puckett Funeral Home from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Amelia Veterans Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
