May 21 – Anna Ruth Lane, of Farmville, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013. She was born in Spartanburg, SC on November 9, 1926, the daughter of George W. and Ruth Roberts. She was raised in Knoxville, TN.

Mrs. Lane attended Nursing School at the University of Tennessee and was a nurse at Southside Community Hospital. She later worked at the Longwood University Library. She was an active member of the Farmville United Methodist Church. For many years Mrs. Lane was also active in the Weyanoke Garden Club.

She is survived by her children, Charles F. Lane Jr. and wife, Denise of Glen Allen, Robert R. Lane of Myrtle Beach, SC and Vicki Lane Fulcher and husband, Rick of Farmville, six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Lane Sr. to whom she was married for 59 years.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 18, at the Chapel of Puckett Funeral Home. Interment was in Westview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Farmville United Methodist Church or to the Prince Edward County Volunteer Rescue Squad.
