February 9 found the Prospect Happy Hats enjoying the Pancake Supper with the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. They had a great time with two of the members winning door prizes. Those members attending were: Hilda Allen, Joyce Floyd, Margaret Stockton, Elfrieda Kerns, Sandra Leonard, Betty Meadows, Pat Smith, Elsie Wilson, Jeannette Tarlton, Carol Schall and Betty Sumner; spouses, Dennis Leonard, Richard Stockton, Fred Floyd, Don Meadows, James Tarlton, and Bill Schall; and other guest Joy McCord and Bill Kerns.

Congratulations go out to Mr. and Mrs. Chris Waddell on the birth of their first child a daughter, Avery Elizabeth born Feb. 11. Mom, Dad, and Avery are doing fine as is grandma, Susan Campbell and Uncle John Marsden.

Mr. and Mrs. WilliamAmos enjoyed the Pancake Supper at the Prospect Fire Department on Saturday. They were able to visit with many friends.

On Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows attended the Italian Dinner at St. Theresa's Catholic Church.

Mrs. Rachel Abernathy Paulson Pearson celebrated her 92 birthday Feb. 11 with lunch at Brian's Steak House in South Hill. Those helping Rachel celebrate her birthday were a sister in-law, Gwen Cook Paulson, nieces Frances P. Motley, Margaret P. Stockton, Marsha Paulson, Jean Derrenbacker, and Rebecca P. Goin, great niece Leslie G. Gallier, great nephews Rion Motley and Chase Carneal and nephew in-law Richard Stockton.

Mr. and Mrs. John Fulcher and Pearl Fulcher enjoyed the Pancake Supper at the Prospect Fire Station Feb. 9.

Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the Pancake Supper at the Prospect Fire House put on by the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, also attending with Flora were Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Bolt, Stacy Bolt and Chace Davis. Flora was very happy in that she won one of the door prizes. The suppers are always good and the fellowship with friends and neighbors is great.

Mrs. Flora Bolt, Mrs. Frances Southall, Ms. Taylor Southall and a special friend met and enjoyed lunch together Feb. 7 at Merk's Place.

Douglas Bolt celebrated his birthday Feb. 8, helping him celebrate with dinner at his home were: Mrs. Flora Bolt, Mrs. Betty Jean Bolt, Stacy Bolt and Chace Davis. Douglas received many nice gifts.

Peggy Kelsey visited Gene and Lois Southall last Friday. She worked with Lois for many years at the Department of Social Services.

Hampden Sydney basketball fans will be making plans soon to attend the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament February 22-24 at the Salem Civic Center.

February 10 was a very busy day for Mrs. Flora Bolt, following church she went home with Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bolt, Haley and Paydon Murdock. Sunday night Steve Bolt and Ashley celebrated their birthdays with dinner at LaParota Grille. Those joining the celebration for Steve and Ashley were: Mrs. Flora Bolt, Mrs. Terri Bolt, Brandon, Haley and Paydon Murdock, Chris Bolt, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Mottley, and Mr. and Mrs. David (Ashley) Paquette.

Neighbors, family and friends are praying for a speedy recovery for those that are sick at this time; Howard Campbell, Tola Morgan, Shirley Fulcher, John Gager, Jeff Smith and Donald “Dee” Meadows.

Friends and neighbors are extending their sincere sympathy to the families of Joe Lowe and Mrs. Rosa Hurt.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be in the pulpit this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Katherine Todd will be with them this week.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
