JANUARY 3 – Grover Wilson Barr, 84, of Farmville, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 in Farmville. He was born July 4, 1928 to the late William C. and Rutha Moore Barr. He was the husband of Louise Barr.

Mr. Barr retired after 48 years of service from Farmville Iron and Metal. He loved fishing and anything mechanical; he was a real “jack of all trades.” His family was the most important and he loved spending time with them.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Louise; children, Lin Barr of Lynchburg, John Barr (Sharon) of Franktown, Donna Hatfield (Denny) of Richmond, Ronna Dickerson (Mike) of Kilmarnock, Terri Johnson (Michael) of Farmville, Frances Hal-linen of Rice, Tammy Southall (Mark) and Laurie Covington (Scott) all of Farmville; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven siblings. He was the last of the eight children.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, January 2 at Concord Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
