BUCKINGHAM – Central Virginia Community Health Center, CVCHC, invites the community to its Renovation Celebration on Saturday, November 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
The celebration will include a wide array of family-friendly activities, facility tours, and flu shot clinic. Formal remarks will kick-off the event at 10 a.m.; and, will include the unveiling of a bust of Mrs. Beulah M. Wiley, CVCHC's founder.
Activities for children will include face painting, a corn-hole contest and making holiday cards to send to our veterans.
The Beulah M. Wiley Center will be open for tours along with yoga and zumba demonstrations. The Center is now open to the public for membership and interested individuals can make inquiries about membership while visiting.
Renovations of CVCHC include the new Beulah M. Wiley Center, which is a fitness and wellness center, larger and brighter pharmacy space with a separate waiting area, a larger lobby with more confidential check-in space, fresher exam rooms, a new digital mammography machine, new x-ray, and improvements at the front entrance.
The event will mark the conclusion of the staff-sponsored drive to collect items that will be donated to homeless veterans. Individuals who would like to contribute can bring toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, combs, as well as socks, scarves, and gloves. All items should be new and may be placed in the boxes located in the waiting room at CVCHC and in the fitness center.
CVCHC is located on Route 15 north of Dillwyn at 25892 N. James Madison Hwy in New Canton.
On Saturday, November 17, beginning at 6 p.m., Salem United Methodist Church will host its annual Thanksgiving Dinner.
The menu features country ham, turkey, dressing, gravy, green beans, creamed potatoes, corn pudding, rolls, an assortment of pies, and beverages.
A free will offering will be accepted. Proceeds from the offering will be used for cleaning the church.
Pastor Billy Swann and the members of Salem UMC invite you to join with them for a delicious meal served with heaps of great fellowship.
Salem UMC is located on Route 632, Ca Ira Road.
Mourners Valley Baptist Church will host a Thanksgiving Day Service on Saturday, November 17, at 11 a.m.
The Reverend Mary Alice Eldridge, associate pastor of Baptist Union Baptist Church, will be the guest preacher; and, the Baptist Union Baptist Church Choir and Ushers will serve.
After the service, a Thanksgiving Day meal will be shared and prizes will be given away.
Everyone is invited. Mourners Valley Baptist Church is located on Route 20, at 5341 South Constitution Route.
Please note that the Food Bank at Mourners Valley Baptist Church will not distribute food on Saturday, November 17.
<br />On Saturday November 17 and November 24, the Auxiliary of the Toga Volunteer Fire Department will be offering lunch for all hunters.
Lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Toga Firehouse, which is located on Route 24.
Menu features slow-cooked beans, cornbread, hot dogs, chips, desserts, and beverages.
So, whether you are hunting for that big buck or gearing up to hunt for Christmas gifts, stop by Toga and enjoy a good lunch for a great cause.
Chestnut Grove Baptist Church is hosting a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 18, beginning with a covered dish supper at 5:30 p.m. After the meal, Amaris and Shiloh Wilbanks will perform in concert.
The Chestnut Grove Baptist Church invites everyone to join with them for this wonderful evening of Thanksgiving by sharing a meal and enjoying great music. A love offering will be accepted.

The Buckingham Chamber of Commerce is continuing its tradition of sponsoring a Christmas House Tour.
Scheduled for Sunday, December 9, from 4 to 8 p.m., the tour will feature six beautiful homes. The tour will also include a ride-thru the Historic Village at Lee Wayside.
This year's tour features the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Chick Childress, Mr. and Mrs. Darren Raynor, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bryant, Mr. and Mrs. Seay Davis, and Mr. and Mrs. Tim McManus.
As an extra highlight, during the stop at the home of Marie and Roger Hill, you'll be able to view Roger's classic vehicle collection.
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at Moss Motor or The Spa, in Dillwyn.
Here's a great way for youth ages nine and older to learn how to COOK. Fun with Foods, the ever-popular 4-H program, began on Tuesday, November 13, at the Buckingham Agricultural Center.
Classes will meet from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m., each Tuesday through December 4. Cost is $25. Fee must be paid prior to start of classes. To register or for more information call the Buckingham Extension Office at 969-4261 or email rcclaboug@vt.edu.
Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center is offering a Going Green Christmas Camp, December 1-2, for ages five through 13.

The Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary will host their annual Christmas Dance on Saturday, December 1, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., at the Dillwyn Fire Station.
Ten Spot, a band from Virginia Beach, will provide the music for this annual holiday celebration. Admission, which is restricted to those 21 years of age or older, is $30 per couple and $20 for singles.
The Buckingham County Annual Community Tree Lighting will take place on Friday, December 7, at 7 p.m., on the Courthouse Lawn.
This will be the 22nd year for this annual event. The program will include great music, a Christmas story for the kids, a visit by Santa, and all the Christmas spirit you care to experience.
After the tree lighting ceremony, the Housewright House Museum, decked in its Christmas finery, will be open.
Then, on Saturday, December 8, and Sunday, December 9, the Housewright House will be open from 1 to 4 p.m.
Likewise, Historic Buckingham will also open the Historic Village at Lee Wayside on the same schedule. At the Village, you'll be able to enjoy the beautiful period decorations while the kids enjoy making holiday arts and crafts. Hot cider and cookies will be provided. And, to help with that Christmas shopping, HBI gift items and books will be available for purchase.
Please note that there is no charge for touring the Housewright House or the Historic Village at Lee Wayside. Of course, donations to help with the upkeep and maintenance of these true gems are always graciously accepted and appreciated.
The Town of Dillwyn is hosting its annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 15, at 10 a.m. This year's theme is Home for the Holidays.
