October 11 – Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to L.P. Gilliam, of Dillwyn, celebrating on October 14, and Jean Sledge, of Cumberland, and Eugene (Jack) Talley, of New Canton, celebrating on Wednesday, October 17.

Bradley Carter, of North Carolina, spent a few days last week with his sister Ann Carter in Dillwyn.

Please keep Linda Miles of Cumberland in your thoughts and prayers as she has been experiencing health issues.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut-in. Sympathy are extended to the Reynolds Family of Buckingham. Kenneth Fielder Reynolds, 88, of Buckingham passed away on Tuesday, October 2. A funeral service was held on October 6. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Barry Miles, of Cumberland, Jane Cooke, of Brookneal, and Darlene Christian, of New Canton, all enjoyed the Fall Festival at Buckingham Baptist Church of Gold Hill and The Central Virginia Christian School of Dillwyn Fundraising Event in Dillwyn on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Happy Anniversary wishes go out this week to Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, celebrating their 14 wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Oct. 17, and John and Sarah Davis of New Canton, celebrating on Thursday, Oct. 18.

Barry Miles along with Dorothy Osborne and her son, Charles Spencer, of Burkeville, enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship at a Farmville Restaurant on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Brown Chapel United Methodist Church, located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 617 (Gravel Hill Rd.) in Dillwyn will host a benefit auction sale on Saturday, Nov. 3 beginning at 10 a. m. with household items, tools, baked goods and much more to be auctioned off. Lunch will be available for purchase including: hot dogs, chips and drinks.

Bill Talbert, of Francisco Auction Co., will donate his time for the auction. Those who would like to donate items for the auction. Call 434-983-2269 to arrange to have their item or items to be dropped off or to have them picked up.

All proceeds resulting from this event will go help pay the cost of a church sign.

Spreading God's Gifts, Inc. is a local non-profit homegrown faith-based ministry organization that assists area working individuals or families in need.

On Saturday evening, Oct. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Buckingham County Middle School Cafeteria (located on High School Road in Buckingham) Spreading God's Gift will host a benefit spaghetti dinner concert. The event will feature seventeen-year-old Holly Cook of Midlothian with main event featuring Smokey Wilson from Concord. The dinner will include Homemade Spaghetti, bread, salad, dessert and beverage. All for a donation.

Funds resulting from this event will be to help individuals and families in the hour of need. All are invited to make plans to join in an evening of good and music.
