August 23 – Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Linda Sue Lipscomb, of Cumberland, celebrating on Wednesday, August 29, and Clarence Walters, of Powhatan, celebrating on Friday, August 31.

Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, spent a few days last week in Pilot Mountain and Mount Airy North Carolina visiting relatives. Among those visited were Roy and Geraldine Midkiff, Wayne and Linda Gail Bouldin and their children, Kyle and Casey, also Kirstin Fleshman, Lillie Bell Midkiff, and Delane Midkiff and her children Mark, Penny and Renee and their families. A great time of food, fellowship and fun was had by all. The Miles' also enjoyed touring Mount Airy and the Andy Griffith Playhouse and other historical places.

Congratulations to Pete and Annie Miles of Dillwyn. The coupled will celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary on Sunday, August 26.

All enjoyed an evening meal at a Richmond Restaurant on Saturday, August 18 in honor of Barry Miles' 49th birthday. Everyone had a great time.

Barry and Linda Miles and Helen Connelly of Dillwyn all enjoyed an evening of great food, fun and fellowship in a Charlottesville restaurant on Wednesday afternoon, August 22.

Hello and best wishes for a speedy recovery to Florence Miles of Rice. She recently underwent surgery.

Southern Gospel Music recording star Danny Higgins (the singing policemean) of Front Royal will be in concert at Arvonia Christian Fellowship Church (Located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 672 in Arvonia) on Saturday evening, Sept. 1. A buffet supper will be given at 6 p.m. followed by the concert at 7 p.m. He will also sing on Sunday morning, Sept. 2, at Hatcher Baptist Church in Cumberland at 11 a.m. and the closing service of the day at First Baptist Church in Powhatan at 7 p.m. This will be followed by refreshments in the church fellowship hall.
