BLACKSTONE, Aug. 14 – Phyllis Neathery Simpson, 68, of Blackstone, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012. She was the daughter of the late H. W. “Buck” and Pauline Neathery of Rice.

She leaves behind her husband of 50 years, James A. Simpson; son, James Simpson Jr. (Kim Jackson) of Kenbridge and daughter, Cheryl Simpson Gamble (Paul) of Broadlands. She was loved and will be missed by five granddaughters, Heather and Lindsey Simpson, Caitlin, Emilia and Lillian Gamble. Also surviving are a brother, Donnie Neathery of Rice, and a sister, Rachel Neathery Runion (Jerry) of Farmville.

The family will receive friends at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, near Blackstone, from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday.

Funeral services will be conducted at Blackstone Baptist Church, at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 16. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice, at 1 p.m.
