ESMONT, Aug. 7 – Merle Vera Tyson, 84, of Esmont, died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Envoy at the Village in Fork Union.

She was born June 23, 1928 in Albemarle County, a daughter of the late Aubrey and Flora (Powell) Snead.

Mrs. Tyson loved gardening and flowers and was an avid cat lover.

Survivors include three sons, Mickey L. Tyson of Buckingham, Jack R. Tyson Jr. of Schuyler, and Wayne H. Tyson of Roanoke; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wilbur Snead of Schuyler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

A graveside service was conducted on Monday, August 6, at the Buckingham Community Cemetery.

Thacker Brothers Funeral Home, Scottsville, was in charge of the arrangements.
