CHESAPEAKE, Aug. 14 – Margaret Evelyn Pope, 99, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Chesapeake. She was born June 30, 1913 in Norfolk and was formerly a lifelong resident. She was a member of McKendree Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.

Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Bobbi Etheridge and husband, Aubrey of Chesapeake; grandson, Kenny Etheridge of Scotland Neck, NC; granddaughter, Debbie Etheridge of Virginia Beach; great-granddaughters, Brittany and Amanda Proctor of Virginia Beach; sisters, Lib Womack of Farmville, and Alice Spencer and husband, Joe of Chesapeake. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Edgar M. Pope, after 60 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late Bertha and David Sykes.

She was a special lady and will be dearly loved and missed by all.

A funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, August 8, by the Rev. Dr. Horace Montgomery Jr. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Suffolk, with burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
