AUGUST 16 – Leonard Whitehead passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012. He was born in Charlotte County on July 23, 1943 to John R. and Estella F. Whitehead.

He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church. He graduated from Central High School in Charlotte County and attended Virginia State College.

Mr. Whitehead leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Janis; two children, Kimberly and Taylor; sister, Violet Forrest (Richard); sisters-in-law, Naomi Whitehead, Verna Spencer, Esther High (Percy), Constance O'Bryant and Virginia Taylor; brothers-in-law, Ralph Johnson, Thomas Thompson, Richard Forrest, Joseph Taylor (Myrna), John Taylor (Gerry) and Clarence Taylor; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, his mentee and friends.

A funeral service was held Saturday, August 11 at Springfield Baptist Church, Meherrin, with the Rev. Dr. Theodore T. Brown, pastor and the Rev. Dr. Percy L. High, eulogist.

Wilson Funeral Home, Keysville, served the family.
