DILLWYN, July 17 – Luther Lawrence Newton Jr., 67, of Dillwyn, died Sunday, July 15, 2012 in a Charlottesville hospital. He was born September 5, 1944, the son of Janie Mae Jamerson Kromer and the late Luther L. Newton Sr. He was the widower of Shirley Tyler Newton.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Loren Newton of Lynchburg and Troy Newton of Richmond; three stepchildren, Michelle Shumaker, Junior Dunkum , and Anne LeSueur, all of Dillwyn; sister, Barbara Hurlbrink of Dillwyn; brother, Lynwood Newton of CO, and grandchildren, Amber S. Call, Breanna and Tyler LeSueur, and Grace and Gavin Dunkum.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 19, in the Chapel of Dunkum Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
