James Charles “Bud” Dunn

JULY 31 – James Charles “Bud” Dunn passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at his home in Farmville with his family by his side. He was born in Blount County, TN, May 6, 1932.
After high school and serving in the U.S. Navy, he moved to Buckingham County. Mr. Dunn worked with Southern States briefly, and then for Holly Farms Inc. He represented this company as a serviceman and helped expand the poultry business in this area. He relocated to Gonzales, TX in the mid-seventies as a live production manager.
After returning to Virginia, he worked for the Department of Labor and Industry as a compliance officer for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He retired in 1991. He always had an athletic side. He loved to watch sports, especially football and basketball and closely followed Duke University and the St. Louis Cardinals. He lived with honor and respected his fellow man. Above all, he loved God, loved and provided for his family and lived life to the fullest.
Mr. Dunn is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Ella Mae; two sons, Steven James and wife, Liz of Cumberland and Douglas Charles of Farmville; daughter, Diane D. Jamerson and husband, Jerry Lee Jr. of Cumberland; grandson, Chris Dunn and wife, Shelley of Cumberland; granddaughter, Emily Dunn of Allentown, PA; great-granddaughter, Haley; three sisters, Betty Waycaster, Shirley Christian, and Carolyn England all of Dillwyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. and Hazel Headrick Dunn, and also an older sister, Mary Ruth White.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 2, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Centra Hospice, 713 Oak Street, Farmville, VA 23901.
