Editor, The Herald:
Thank you for your faithful support for the 25th Annual Catfish Festival by providing newspaper coverage. The weather turned off good, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The children enjoyed the day too. Of the approximate 500 being treated at Shriners Hospitals, 21 of them were invited to attend the Catfish Festival free along with one parent or a guardian. About half of them showed up. They range in age from infancy to near 18.
We are always searching for children in need of Pediatric Speciality Care i.e. Orthopaedics burns. Spinal cord injury, and cleft lip and palate problems. A free screening is planned to be held at Centra Southside Community Hospital- Farmville in the fall of this year at a date to be determined. If you know of a child who could benefit from this screening, please have the parents call 800-237-5055 or contact a Shriner. Then a local Shriner will follow-up with the parents.
Again, we appreciate your interest in the children in our area who need expert treatment provided by the Shriners Hospital.
