JUNE 5 – Mary Clarissa Maxey, 81, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at a private residence. She was born November 17, 1930 in Buckingham County to the late Allen and Annie Baber Maxey. She lived most of her life in Richmond where she worked in retail until her retirement.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dillwyn.

She is survived by a younger brother, Jasper Maxey of Bristol, TN and younger sister, Thelma M. Childress of Dillwyn; several nieces and nephews along with their families. A great nephew always held a special place in her heart, Aubrey Thomas Blaylock Jr. (Bud). She was preceded in death by her husband, Ryland Maxey, daughter, Nancy Fay Maxey and older brother, Franklin Maxey.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 4, at the Dunkum Funeral Home with interment in the Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery alongside her husband and daughter.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Dillwyn First Baptist Church Youth Group or the American Diabetes Association.
