Madeline Crystal (Punkin) Chapin

CUMBERLAND, June 14 – Madeline Crystal (Punkin) Chapin, of Cumberland, died Saturday, June 9, 2012 at The Woodland in Farmville. She was born September 22, 1948 in Richmond, the daughter of the late Harvey McDowell and Brownie Gallihugh and was married to the late Edward Emmit Chapin.

Mrs. Chapin attended Shiloh New Covenant Church. She enjoyed bingo and crocheting.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Hendershot and Adam and Mary Randolph; son, Michael Chapin and Cathy; sister, Ruth Smith; stepsisters, Una Tepper, Linda Cluff and Clivie and Martha Hite; grandchildren, Aaron Savage, Lindsey and Samantha Randolph, Crystal, Danielle, and Randell McKinney and Jessica Martin; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, James Ryder, husband, Edward E. Chapin and longtime soul-mate, Clinton Jackson.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 15, at 2 p.m. at Shiloh New Covenant Church Cemetery, Cumberland, with the Rev. Joe Johnson officiating.
