MAY 8 – Myrtle Kirtley Scott, 82, of Farmville, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012. She was born to the late Paul and Olive Newcomb Kirtley in Prince Edward County on May 27, 1929. She was married to the late Willie Vaughan Scott and lived in Farmville where she worked for Centel for over 40 years.
Ms. Scott was a member of Farmville Church of God for over 42 years and was the church clerk and pianist for over 20 years. She was much loved by her church family and was a volunteer at Southside Community Hospital where her kindness made everyone who knew her, love her.
She is survived by a son, Willie Vaughan Scott Jr. (Janice) and daughter, Brenda Scott Baldwin (Pinkey), both of Farmville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Nelson.
A funeral service was held Sunday, May 6, in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home, with the Reverend John Baldwin officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery in Meherrin.
