PETERSBURG, Jan. 31 – Carla Maurice Coleman passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 while at her home in Petersburg. She was born on July 16, 1974 to Shirl C. Walton and the late Douglas Lee Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Shirl Walton; godmother, Pam Gee; stepfather, Gideon Walton Jr.; three brothers; two sisters; two grandmothers, Victoria Gonzalez and Pearl Walton; a great-aunt; eight uncles; 12 aunts; six nephews; a niece; two godchildren; a beloved friend, William Couch and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 27 at New Bethel Baptist Church, Meherrin, with the Rev. Haney Thomas Jr., officiating.

Wilson Funeral Home, Keysville, served the family.
