BUCKINGHAM, Nov. 8 – D. Howard Davenport, 71, of Buckingham, died on Friday, November 4, 2011. He was the husband of Linda Scruggs Davenport. Born March 27, 1940 in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Llewellyn Harrison Davenport and Lillian Brickhouse Davenport.

Mr. Davenport was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, the Retired Supervisor of Building and Grounds for the Bucking-ham County School System and the owner and operator of Davenport Custom Cabinets. He worked with the Buckingham County Rescue Squad for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lydia Davenport Kalata and husband, Steve of Midlothian and Cyn-thia Davenport Toney and husband, Randy of Buckingham; five grandchildren, Eric Kalata, Adam Kalata, Kelsey Toney, Kayleigh Toney and Drew Toney; four brothers, Wayne Davenport and wife, Tempy of Dillwyn, Ray Davenport and wife, Dee of GA, Frank Davenport and wife, Mary of Chesapeake and L. H. Davenport of FL; and two sisters, Ruth Brewer and husband, John of TX and Julie Adcock and husband, Buford of NC.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, at Antioch Baptist Church by the Rev. Jimmy Dunn and the Rev. Jennings Duncan. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox.
