Charles E. Whorley, 75

DILLWYN, Nov. 15 – Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, called one of his faithful servants to his eternal home on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at his home with his devoted family by his side. Charles E. Whorley, 75, was born in Buckingham County on October 15, 1936 to Whitcomb and Susie Lann Whorley, both of whom preceded him in death.
Mr. Whorley was talented in many fields. He loved working outdoors, fishing, gardening, and helping his children and others whenever the need arose. He was extremely hardworking and a dedicated husband and father. He loved being with family and friends, telling stories, and making others laugh.
He is survived by his loving wife, Curtis Moss Whorley, of 52 years, from Dillwyn; three daughters, Kathy Lipes of Richmond and Diane Whorley and Lorrie Shumaker of Buckingham; two sisters, Louise Crews and Sue Morgan of Buckingham; a brother, Dave Whorley of Buckingham; three grandchildren, Rebecca Steele and Christopher Mitchell of Richmond, and Courtney Shumaker of Buckingham; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Whorley was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Boley and brothers, William, Wiley, John, and Robert of Buckingham. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to two dear family friends, Bonnie Leslie and Susie Lann.
A funeral service was conducted Sunday, November 13 at Dunkum Funeral Home with interment at Buckingham Community Cemetery, with Buddy Bryant officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Buckingham Rescue Squad or Dillwyn Fire Department.
Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, was in charge of arrangements.
