Earvin Runs Write-In Campaign

CUMBERLAND – Yvonne Earvin announced she is seeking election to the Cumberland County School Board in the Third District as a write-in candidate. Earvin has worked in and volunteered with the Cumberland community for 18 years, according to a provided release.

“Her service to the area began with employment as the Director of the Cumberland Office on Youth, where she coordinated a variety of activities that focused on leadership development opportunities, increased recreation opportunities, and specialized services for risk populations. Positive relations were developed with various organizations in the county and throughout the area for the betterment of Cumberland youth. Additional employment relative to youth service has been in the juvenile justice system, as well as with various youth service agencies providing care for youth risk populations,” states the release.

Earvin has also volunteered for a number of years in the Cumberland school system with various athletic and enrichment programs in multiple capacities, including planning and implementing afterschool recreational activities for youth who were staying after school for athletic events and coordinating of the Cumberland High School Step Team. Her community service has also included being a mentor for several years with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

Earvin says she comes from a military family, having lived in various parts of the United States and Europe and graduated from high school in Germany.

“She is a proud graduate of Fisk University, which is located in Nashville, Tennessee,” states the release. “She continues to have a spirit of service, with plans to have a positive impact on the youth of Cumberland through her time on the School Board, if elected. Her primary effort would be to ensure that every student has an opportunity for success via participation in quality programming provided by professional, caring, and motivated staff.”
