Editor, The Herald:

My family and I have lived in Jackson Heights for the past 15 years, and in that time our community has seen our taxes increase, crime increase, property assessment increase, while the presence of our Town Council, County Board of Supervisor member, and both police departments have decreased. Do any of them know where Jackson Heights is? In all the years I have lived here, only two elected members have knocked on my door, Ray Wooten and Sheriff Hodges.

Every member of this community pays both Cumberland County, and Town of Farmville taxes, but only receive services from the Town of Farmville. No member of the Cumberland Board of Supervisors from the Fifth District has ever answered an e-mail I have sent them asking for an explanation of why this community has to pay the county property tax.

So I ask the candidates running for public office in the Fifth District, turn onto Osborn or Georgia Streets and start knocking on doors, we have a lot to say.
