SOUTH BOSTON, Sept. 1 – Eleanor Jean Richardson Overstreet, South Boston, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born October 23, 1929 in Guilford County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late John Hazel Richardson and Carmel Shirley Brandon Richardson and was married to Robert Fulton Overstreet.

Mrs. Overstreet was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Charlotte County.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Fulton Overstreet of South Boston; three daughters, Patricia Ann Overstreet Hogate and husband, Sid of Winston-Salem, NC, Lucinda Carroll O. Mitchell and husband, William of Yorktown, and Shirley Anne O. Townsend of Farmville; two sons, Robert Fulton Overstreet Jr. and wife, Linda of Keysville and John Carrington Overstreet of North Carolina; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren
<br />Funeral services will be held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 2, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Ball officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. and Friday for one hour prior to the service.
