July 28 – Happy Birthday wishes are sent out this week to twins Ray Miles and Faye Marion, both of Cumberland, and Susan Absher, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Saturday, July 30; Sam Givens, of Brookneal, and Mary Wilkerson, of Brookview Lodge in Farmville, celebrating on Sunday, July 31, and Elizabeth Stone, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Tuesday, August 2.
Barry and Linda Miles of Cumberland, visited several residents of Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Dillwyn last week.
Our prayers and thoughts go out this week to all those who are sick and shut-in.
A benefit dance concert was held on Saturday evening, July 23 for Debbie Trent of Cumberland. Debbie has medical needs. Over $3,000 was raised with continued support coming in. A special thanks to Hatcher Baptist Church in Cumberland for hosting this event. Also, thanks to family, friends, businesses, neighbors and gospel groups for their help, financial support and attendance at this great event.
Pete Miles, of Dillwyn, visited the homes of Tom and Mildred Brown and Junior and Nancy Mikdiff in Cumberland over the weekend.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a non-profit organization will hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday, August 1 at 5 p.m. at Arvon Baptist Church, located on U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn in Arvonia. All members are asked to attend and bring a covered dish. Special dinner music will feature Greg Miller of Dillwyn on the guitar then this will be followed by our August program with Gospel music from Clarence Walters of Powhatan. Cedar Baptist Church, located just off of U.S. Rt. 15 North of Dillwyn on State Rt. 650 (Trents Mill Rd.) hosts a Men's Promise Keepers Prayer Breakfast Sunday mornings (excluding fifth Sundays) from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Maranatha Baptist Church, located on Tuggle Road, will host Gospel Music on Sunday, July 31. At 5 p.m. refreshments will be served in the church fellowship hall. At 6 p.m. Southern Gospel music will be presented by Smokey Wilson of Concord. A love offering will be received. All are cordially invited to attend.
